As you may know, WinRM and WMI are implementations of public standards -- WMI is our implementation of CIM, and WinRM is our implementation of the WS-Management protocol. These are both published by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), a consortium of 160 companies and organizations that develops and promotes standards for systems management.
